How to send text and code between devices
TxtDropper lets you move a snippet of text, a link, a password reminder or a block of code from your phone to your computer (or the other way around) without emailing yourself or installing anything.
Step by step
- Paste or type your text in the Send box and press Generate sharing code.
- On the other device, open TxtDropper and type the 6-character code, or scan the QR code with the phone camera.
- The text appears instantly on the receiving device. While you stay connected, everything you type is synced live, so the other side always sees the latest version.
Good to know
- Use it to copy a link from your phone to your PC, share a code snippet during a call, or move a long message between devices.
- The code only works while the sender keeps the page open, and it stops working as soon as the sender starts a new transfer or closes the tab.
- After 10 wrong codes, entering codes is blocked for 5 minutes to prevent guessing.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it really free, and do I need an account?
- Yes. TxtDropper is free and there is nothing to sign up for. The site is supported by advertising.
- Are my files stored on a server?
- No. Your data travels directly from one device to the other over an encrypted WebRTC connection. We never receive or keep it. When you close the page, it is gone.
- How long can the text be?
- Everyday snippets, notes, logs and source files are fine. The whole text is re-sent as you type, so for very large content use the document transfer instead.
