TxtDropper (including the text transfer tool and the photo & video transfer tool at /media) is built on a strict "No Server Storage" architecture. We do not require registration, we do not have a database for your transfers, and we do not store any of the text, files, code, or links you send. All data transfers occur strictly device-to-device (Peer-to-Peer) using WebRTC technology.
When you click "Generate sharing code", a signaling broker merely facilitates the handshake between your device and the receiving device so the two browsers can find each other. This handshake is provided by PeerJS's public cloud broker (a third-party service operated independently of TxtDropper), which sees the temporary room code and connection metadata needed to establish the link, but never the content of your transfer. Once connected, an encrypted tunnel is formed directly between the two browsers, and your text or files travel through that tunnel only — never through our servers. When you close the browser tab, the data is completely destroyed.
To keep TxtDropper 100% free with no signup required, we display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
We take your security seriously despite being a free tool. TxtDropper implements client-side rate limiting to prevent automated brute-force attempts on active room codes. Additionally, a randomized collision-resistant algorithm ensures your 6-character room code remains unique to your session.
If you use our Contact page, the email address and message you submit are stored securely so our team can read and reply to them — this is the only information TxtDropper stores on a server.
